Either this dog was never on the line in the first place, or he somehow got free.
In this turn of events, I try to get Aja away from this dog, somehow my Step Dad ends up with her, and this dog grabs a hold of her, and is hanging on, my Step Dad kicks this dog off, and the dog bolts back onto the porch, scared, but he's still yapping his little head off.
So we're standing here, and I find out that the dog bit my Step Dad's stomach, and he starts calling the dog's owner. We're standing here for a few minutes before the guy rushes out and is told what happen. He immediately goes to grab the dog because he's making another go for Aja, who is now inside my jacket. The owner grabs the dog, who is also being aggressive towards him, baring his fangs and growling. According to him its his wife's dog and he's been trying to get rid of it for years, and he said he'd pay for the vet ( in this case right now, medical bill ) bill.
According to my Step Dad the dog's bitten nearly everybody in our neighborhood. So yeah, a nice little walk on a kind of gloomy, chilly day was turned into a vicious, attack.
I was afraid, I really was. I thought this dog was going to tear her apart the way he hung on. Then I was just pissed and angry with it afterward, then the tears came. I'm mad that the dog wasn't even on the chain, I saw it move when he did, I guess he was just standing on it or something? Or he actually broke free? While we were passing it looked like it was attached to him...ugh...I don't even wanna think about this anymore... -sigh-
My view of Jack Russel terriers isn't going to change after this incident, since we babysit one, but he's a sweetie pie. As far as we know, Aja is fine, I'm going to keep an eye on her, and hopefully convince my mom to take her for a checkup anyways. My Step Dad on the other hand, the dog broke through the skin, and now he's on his way to the Hospital to get it checked out.
